ANNOUNCEMENTS

  1. TEAM/AFFILIATE END-CYCLE SURVEY – DEADLINE EXTENDED TO MON. 11/3O

Thank you so much to those of you who have already filled out the survey. This provides extremely valuable information for us so that we can continue to improve our support for you.

Please coordinate with your fellow leaders to review the Team/Affiliate End-Cycle Survey and fill out one per team by the extended deadline of Monday, November 30. We’ve streamlined the questions so it should be less cumbersome than in the past.

One innovation: we have compiled the team/affiliate metrics we have on record into a Metrics Master Summary. Instead of submitting your metrics in the survey, you’ll just review the summary to confirm the data and fill in any blanks.

Organizing staffers have been following up to schedule individual conversations with your leadership team in December. Thank you so much for participating—this is a critical tool for helping Sister District improve, and planning for the year ahead.

  1. WINTERIZING WELCOME EMAILS & TEAM PAGES

Now that the election is over, it’s time to “winterize” some of our materials. The Communications and Organizing Departments are working together to update team Mailchimp welcome emails and team pages. Any links to donate to candidates will be switched to HQ donation links custom to your team so that you will be able to track any donations that come in.

We plan to complete this work by the week of November 30. If you have any questions, please reach out to your Organizing Department staffer.

  1. SUPPRESSED 2020: THE FIGHT TO VOTE

The folks at Brave New Films recently updated their short, powerful documentary, Suppressed 2020: The Fight to Vote. If you’d like to offer a film screening as an action item this winter, feel free to sign up via their website.

EVENTS

  1. HOLIDAY PARTY W/ HAMILTON!

We’re having a holiday party to celebrate all of you, featuring performances from Hamilton cast members! RSVP here, and invite your volunteers 🙂

  1. ICYMI: 2021 VIRTUAL SUMMIT – SAT.–SUN. 2/6–27

We’ll be holding our annual Sister District Summit on Saturday, February 6 to Sunday, February 7. This will be a virtual event, and will likely run for four hours on each weekend day. (We will wrap up before the Super Bowl begins.) We may have some additional optional programming on Friday. This is open to all volunteers. We’ll circulate an RSVP in a future HQL Update.

RESOURCES

  1. ELECTION ANALYSIS & TALKING POINTS

Check out Gaby’s early analysis for toplines and initial takes, as well as this week’s state-by-state deeper dive on the impact of gerrymandering, ticket-splitting, roll-off, and the enthusiasm/awareness gap for down-ballot candidates. Our Election Night Tracker is up to date.

And here are some high-level talking points that may be helpful in messaging to your volunteers. Any feedback or questions, please reach out!

  1. GEORGIA

As you know, Sister District focuses exclusively on state legislative races. We are not getting involved in the Georgia runoffs, but we understand that you may be interested in learning more. Here’s a quick one-pager that summarizes a few of the top opportunities. If you’d like to plug right into a well-run phonebank, join Sister District Portland for their thrice-weekly shifts.

  1. RESOURCE LIBRARY CORNER: HOW TO: TEAM PAGES

This edition’s highlighted resource is the How To Guide: Team Pages. Check this out if you’d like to modify your team page! As noted above, the Comms and Organizing Departments are currently working together to add  post-election note at the top of each team page.
