2020-12-3 HQL Update
HQL Update: Team Page & Welcome Email Updates, Holiday Party, and Updated Election Analysis. Plus Volunteer Leader Calls Are Back in January!
I hope you all had a safe and joyful — if somewhat weird — Thanksgiving, and that you’ve got plans that will help you rest and restore for the rest of the year.
To that end, I hope to see many of you at our holiday party on Wednesday! It will be a chance to celebrate our accomplishments, hear a bit from Rita about what’s next for Sister District, and see some musical performances that we know will inspire and uplift.

ICYMI – WINTERIZING TEAM PAGES & WELCOME EMAILS
Reminder that the Communications and Organizing Departments are working together to update team Mailchimp welcome emails and team pages for the off-cycle period. Where appropriate, we’ve made slight adjustments to language and swapped out old candidate donation links with HQ donation links custom to your team so that you will be able to track any donations that come in.
Please take a moment to further customize your welcome emails and team pages! If you have any questions, please reach out to your Organizing Department staffer.
TEAM/AFFILIATE END-CYCLE SURVEY – THANK YOU!
Thank you so much to those of you who completed the Team/Affiliate End-Cycle Survey. We read every word — several times! — and this provides extremely valuable information for us so that we can continue to improve our support for you. The deadline has passed, but we’re still monitoring responses and we’d be grateful to hear from you, so please feel free to fill it out if you haven’t already!
And thank you for responding to your organizing staffers who have been scheduling individual conversations with your leadership team. Whether we connect this month or in January, we’re excited to debrief with you.
NEW GUESTS: HOLIDAY PARTY W/ HAMILTON – WED. 12/9
Please join us on Wednesday, December 9 at 5pm PT / 8pm ET for a fun-filled night featuring live and specially recorded performances by renowned Broadway stars: Krystal Joy Brown (Eliza in Hamilton), Austin Scott (Alexander Hamilton in Hamilton), Kathryn Gallagher (Tony Award nominee, Spring Awakening, Jagged Little Pill), Ashley De La Rosa (Hamilton, Mean Girls), and Ryan Vasquez (Hamilton, Waitress, Wicked).
We’ll also be having a conversation about what’s next for grassroots organizing at the state level with Executive Director Rita Bosworth and Swing From Home founder Ryan Vasquez.
RSVP here — and invite your volunteers!
VOLUNTEER LEADER CALL – THU. 1/21
Our first Volunteer Leader Call of 2021 will be on Thursday, January 21 at 5pm PT / 8pm ET. These calls will continue to be held on the third Thursday of each month.
All HQLs, DCs, and leaders of teams and affiliates are encouraged to join these calls where we surface and share the expertise, questions, creative thinking, and ideas of our extraordinary leaders. Topics are specifically selected for where we are — and where we’ll be next — in the election cycle. You can expect deep-dives on fundraising, voter contact, coalition-building, developing leaders, and much more.
Please invite any active 2020 volunteers you’d like to encourage to be more involved as organizers of your team.
UPDATED ELECTION ANALYSIS
Gaby and Mallory just updated their early analysis with final results from the election. And ICYMI, check out the state-by-state deeper dive on the impact of gerrymandering, ticket-splitting, roll-off, and the enthusiasm/awareness gap for down-ballot candidates.
Another ICYMI, here are some high-level talking points that may be helpful in messaging to your volunteers. We are working on additional messaging guidance for helping you keep volunteers engaged and recruit new volunteers for the new year.
RESOURCE LIBRARY CORNER: HOW TO: TEAM PAGES
We’re repeating our highlighted resource from last edition — How To Guide: Team Page — because it’s just that good… and relevant! As noted above, the Comms and Organizing Departments are currently working together to make updates — please take a look, and make any additional changes.
