Raising for: Jonathan Kassa
Date: Wednesday, May 13, 2020
Time: 5:00 – 6:00 pm
Attendees: 12
Total raised: $500

What were your steps to put the party together?

Sent out Evite invitation to gauge number of participants, included links to ActBlue and Bingo game and attached Kassa’s dossier. Set up Zoom call for respondents and also copied others who might have neglected to respond.

How did you recruit for the party?

Used our volunteer list.

How did you confirm/remind RSVPs?

Evite does this automatically; we also sent out an email from our gmail address in case the Evite got lost in Spam.

How did you prepare for the party?

Signed on for online Bingo; worked with Taylor and Ore to contact Kassa’s team.

How did the party flow? What happened?

We introduced ourselves and gave some background to SD’s efforts and our being matched to the Kassa campaign. We had meant to play the Bingo game as an ice-breaker, but our candidate joined early so we pivoted and heard from him and then played Bingo.

What worked?

Bingo worked. Fun and relevant, since the terms were all from this year’s political events and campaigns. Reminding folks of the ActBlue link during the call worked. Not having the event last too long was a big plus in participants’ responses.

What challenges did you encounter and how did you navigate?

The candidate joining early meant we had to change our agenda on the fly, but we got through it!

If you do this again, what would you do differently?

We could have double-checked with our Field Manager that the candidate would join at the precise time indicated in our agenda.

What suggestions do you have for teams planning and executing similar parties?

Offer a prize! The scarf as the Bingo prize was a winner. Also, don’t let things drone on if the event is a Zoom happening; people are pretty Zoomed out.
