Virginia turns blue!

In 2023, Democrats retook control of the Virginia House of Delegates and held onto the Virginia State Senate, ensuring the Commonwealth will remain the last safe haven for people seeking an abortion in the South. Now, we are laser-focused on keeping MAGA Republicans out of state legislatures and the White House – watching critical battlegrounds like Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. This work takes all of us, and it starts now. Text JOIN to 68998 to get involved!

We’re thrilled to release our 2023 Impact Report!

This annual report details all that we’ve accomplished over the past year and reflects the unwavering dedication of this community to our mission of building durable power in state legislatures.

Thanks to your time, energy, and investment, we propelled 8 out of 10 candidates to victory — flipping the Virginia House, defending the Senate, and ensuring that the Commonwealth remains a safe haven for those seeking reproductive care in the South.

Here are a few highlights of our 2023 work in action.

  • We reached out to 377,435 voters by phone, postcards, texts, and doors — including an average of 43% of our candidates’ total calls to voters.
  • We raised $553,463 in small-dollar donations for candidates.
  • We were a top ten donor to each of our 10 candidates as of Election Day.
  • We threw 554 team events for candidates.
  • We directed financial support to local power-building organizations to lay the groundwork for electoral victories in 5 key states, crossing over $500,000 raised since 2021.

Sister District Project is committed to the long-term work of shifting the balance of power in state legislatures across the country — and our year-to-year impact report is a testament to this work. Will you make a contribution to help us continue making an outsized impact?
